ADDIS ABABA 30th Anniversary dance went down
Boomshackalack... The night started with selector's...
Tyrone, MSD and Johnny Roots with Champian (Trojan's toaster) on
mic... also Mackabush took to the mic ... Constant Jammin'
dropped two Lovers Rock to keep the gal dem sweet...
Rodigan was glad to be home, dropping all kinds of Reggae. The
dance was ram... with nuff Idren & Sisdren meeting up
together in one love and unity. (SISTER P, KENRICK, DIXON, TEDDY
DAN it was good to see these faces in there). Peter Hunnigale
took to the stage with his three backing singer's and lifted the
dance to a higher level... there was so much love in the
dance... Respect to the promoter Douglas James... |
| ON RODIGAN |
| The summer was hot, hot, hot...it was 1976
and England was on fire. The same year West Indies Cricket team was
at its best. The same year David Rodigan came to Oxford to sell
Reggae at a Sunday Market stall. ADDIS ABABA SOUND SYSTEM
was just formed and went to David to buy tunes. Channel One
Rockers was the order of the day with tunes like - MPLA, ANGOLA
and KISSINGER. David went by the name of. RAMJAM RODIGAN.
Throughout 76 and 77 ADDIS and RODIGAN grew a great friendship
which still lives on to this day. |
| Ockard Ridim Radio hope's
to bring you some truly rare classic's on Radio. Think back to
1972-76 when sounds like SIR LORD & LORD DAVID were playing some
serious skank rhythms and man and man would shuffle at the end
of the session and drop some wicked footwork. We hope to bring
back the real love which Reggae had. England is a cold gloomy
place, but has a great number of serious Record collector's with
friendly DJ's trying their best to bring some sunshine
through the music. |
